Off the top of my head here are my oh so helpful tips:
- Get these now, BEFORE you feel that tickle in your throat--> Motrin, Tylenol, cough drops, night time, stuffy head, fever, cough so you can sleep medicine...or Red Bull so you can stay up since goodness knows YOU'LL be the one on night duty.
- Depending on the child's age...appropriate crafts.
- Oh what the hell, good ol' daytime tv ought to keep them quiet for a bit, or pay per view.
- A lap top so you can work from bed. You know you are going to get it sooner or later.
- Vitamin C, Echinechea, that comfort tea from Celestial Seasonings. Garlic pills! I have a friend who swears by those.
Yup, I know, not much help. I am sure some of you mompreneurs have been up to your elbows in used Kleenex and whiny, feverish husbands children.

I can tell you exactly what happens to a home business when everyone gets sick - it gets juggled around like everything else.
As Kelly reported, my kids had influenza and since, in addition to mommy, I was nursemaid, it meant that I got influenza as well. This all happened just days before the huge Winter Wonderland event I was hosting in my home.
My health and my family's health comes first, but I also cannot ignore my business health either. So, during this period of icky-sicky's I did what I could do. I put all the kids in my room, turned on cartoons, dimmed the lights and plugged in my laptop. In between doses of motrin, chicken soup and naps, I did whatever I could to stay on top of my business. The other thing I did was lower my expectations just a bit. There was just no way I could operate at my normal pace. (I ended up with flu and laryngitis) I had to let a few things go, cancel a couple meetings, postpone a few actions... you get the picture. I'm happy to report that my kids are now flu free, my event was a stellar success (even with having to trim a few things) and we're all getting back to our imperfectly inspired selves!
PS. Please be sure to get your flu shots too!
I HIGHLY recommend a drink powder called Emergen-C. It's a flavored fizzing drink powder with 1,000 mg of Vitamin C. As soon as you feel the sniffles coming on, pour it into your favorite bottle of water. You can drink it hot too if you're into the hot drinks. I swear by this and it keeps me going and prevents me from getting sick.
